Rescued in 2020, Kalypso's journey has been full of challenges, but he found a home, friends and safety at Kerewong. This Brumby horse is a gift for anyone who wants to learn to become a better horse person.

Kalypso was rescued from a bad situation by Kathy in October 2020.
Kalypso is a farm-bred registered Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse / Australian Brumby gelding with an unusual ever-changing bay /buckskin colouring. His parents were captured wild horses from the Guy Fawkes River National Park NSW, but Kalypso was bred and born in domestic life on a Brumby stud farm to secure the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse blood lines.
In 2020, after several unfortunate events, including changing homes, Kalypso found himself emaciated, neglected and terrified of people at an online horse auction. Being an almost 5-year-old unhandled stallion in poor health made his chances for a good future very slim. In his rescue process and another turn of events, Kalypso ended up at Kerewong. It is without doubt that this has saved his life.
While it is highly unlikely that he will ever be a riding horse, Kalypso’s home is Kerewong. Gaining his trust, handling and keeping him safe has been a huge and time-consuming effort and learning experience, and continues to be so. While many would consider a horse like Kalypso "useless" or untrainable, Kathy likes to see him as a gift. A gift to teach her and others how to become a better horse person.
Kalypso is extremely sensitive and wary of strangers, but with the help of clicker training he has grown in confidence and gained excellent groundwork skills. He has become a lovely horse to work with in the Horsemanship Program, on the Kerewong Horse Farm obstacle course and at Liberty, as he enjoys the positive attention given to him.
