About The Kerewong Horses
Kerewong Horse Herd
A total of 15 horses live at Kerewong, running in 3 separate herds (2025). They are mainly pure and part-bred Arabians. Adding variety is one big AndalusianxTB and 3 very special Australian Brumbies (captured wild horses).
Our horses live outside, 24/7 all year round, in large fields on the 60 acre horse farm. The space and consistent group structure promote a functioning, stable, and healthy herd.
All guests have open views over the main paddocks and can observe the horses at leisure from the farm accommodation.
Most of the horses are now aged in their teens and twenties. We are blessed with some horses living in their thirties.
The older horses (20+ years) are retired trekking horses from the Southern Cross Horse Treks Australia days. The 6 youngest horses are working, trekking horses and participate in the horsemanship retreat program and horse riding holiday tours.

About The Horse Breeds At Kerewong
The Arabian Team - Gracious and Spirited
The Arabian or Arab horse is one of the oldest modern breeds of horse with historic roots in the Middle East's Arabian Peninsula. They are a high-spirited breed famous for their gracious beauty and movement, stamina, agility, intelligence and tough yet sensitive nature. Arabian horses have a natural ability for the sport of endurance riding.
Most Arabian horses at Kerewong come from the Romac Arabian Horse Stud in Sydney, NSW. They are partly related to each other, and those within the same generation have lived together their entire life.
Some of the Kerewong Arabians had successful Arabian Show careers before coming to Kerewong Horse Farm. There's more than a few led & ridden Arabian Champions amongst them.
All Kerewong horses have completed Intermediate (40 km distance) Endurance Ride events as part of their training for the multi-day horse trekking tours. The active working Arabian horses still participate in NSW Endurance events.

The Brumby Team – Willing and Able
Kerewong Horse Farm NSW proudly promotes the Australian Brumbies, particularly the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse (Brumby) Breed. Visitors are always excited to have a chance to meet these once-wild horses.
Brumbies are known to have a level-headed temperament and are the best you will find in terms of surefooted, confident bushtrail riding horses. Their unique upbringing in a herd of wild horses, makes them Masters in social horse skills, horse language and communication. They are our preferred horses for the Horsemanship Retreat Programs.
Our 2 captured Brumbies, Dodge and The Blonde Brumby, were born and grew up in the wilderness area of the Guy Fawkes River National Park, NSW. In 2013 they were captured by National Parks & Wildlife Authorities, using humane passive trapping methods and sent to the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Association for rehoming. Taphyl Stewart Horsemanship handled and trained them with Natural Horsemanship techniques.
In 2019 the Brumby Brothers came to Kerewong to start their new life as trekking horses. Their progress from wild horses to reliable riding horses has been impressive. They are versatile and bright horses, excellent on the bush trails and the Stars of our obstacle course and horsemanship program.
