When Kathy decided to add some Guy Fawkes Heritage Horses (Australian Brumbies) to her team of Southern Cross Horse Treks horses, the thought behind it was to promote the Brumby breed via her horse trekking business. Blondie, and his Brumby "Brother" Dodge, arrived at Kerewong in 2019 and have without a doubt done exactly what was intended for them. Everybody who meets the Brumbies at Kerewong or on horse events, is impressed with their good temperament and physical abilities as riding horses.

The 2 Brumby Brothers grew up as wild horses in the Guy Fawkes River National Park, NSW. They were captured together by National Park and Wildlife Authorities in 2013 using humane passive trapping methods and sent to the Guy Fawkes Heritage Horse Association for rehoming.

These 2 Brumbies were very lucky to stay together and find their first domestic home with a natural horsemanship trainer, who gave them the time they needed to adjust to their new life. He also gave them a solid grounded foundation in their training.

Six years after their capture, Blondie and Dodge came to Kerewong. They really have a very special bond of friendship after sharing all their life experiences from wild horses to domestic life together. Best Friends Forever, an unbreakable bond for life.

As the more anxious one of the two Brumbies, Blondie often depends on Dodge's calm nature, to settle and relax.

Having grown up in the wilderness area of northern NSW it speaks for itself that Blondie is incredibly surefooted on the bush trails. His progress from wild horse to reliable riding horse has been fantastic and still continues to grow over the years. There really doesn't seem to be anything Blondie can't do. Horse Trekking, Beach Horse Riding, Endurance riding, Cowboy Dressage, Liberty. His favourite activity is without a doubt splashing in the water!
